2025 SAINT SAVA SUMMER CAMP OPENS NEW SEASON IN SHADELAND

Beloved campers, parents, families and friends of St. Sava Shadeland Camp,

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, the feast of the Synaxis of the Twelve Holy Apostles, the new 2025 Shadeland Camp Season has been initiated with the celebration of the Holy and Divine Liturgy by Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Rodney Torbic in the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God Monastery Church. Responses were melodiously rendered by the camp counselors.

Preceding this liturgical celebration was an intensive orientation week held by Camp Director, Presbyter-Economos Vedran Grabic, and our devoted Federation of Circles of Serbian Sisters of the Eastern American Diocese for the counselors and staff of our St. Sava Camp in preparation for this new season.

The clergy assigned to every week have been briefed in preparation for presenting the 2025 camp education program diligently prepared by PhD candidate Srdjan Maksimovic, Coordinator of our Diocesan Education Commission.

Later that afternoon saw the arrival of our new group of campers for Week I, yet again seeing record enrolment for our beloved camp program with 75 campers. That evening Millie Radovick, President of the Federation CSS, held an orientation session for camp volunteers.

This year, a new feature has been added to registration Sundays with all afternoon family luncheons for parents and relatives that bring their children to camp. This wonderful initiative is sponsored by a new lay support group, known as “Rooted In Shadeland”. These enthusiasts from our St. Nicholas parish in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, are themselves former Shadeland campers and counselors, bringing a sense of stewardship by financially supporting our cherished Shadeland Monastery estate. As His Grace Bishop Irinej has always held, “every aspect of our Diocese must function like a family”.

Remember to join us for the Shadeland Estate Slava - the Venerable Mother Angelina of Krushedol, and our all out magnificent End of Camp Season Celebration on Saturday, August 9, 2025. The Hierarchical Divine Liturgy begins at 10:00 AM, followed by a picnic luncheon and spectacular Kolo, Song and Tambura program put on by our campers!

Welcome one and all! All roads lead to Shadeland, which is now open with great enthusiasm and anticipation for the 2025 Season!
