With the Blessing of His Grace, Bishop IRINEJ, the beautiful celebration of the Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God in the year 2025, was celebrated at the Church of St. Demetrius the Great Martyr in Akron, OH. On the occasion of the Slava (Patronal Feast) of the Circle of Serbian Sisters of St. Demetrius, commemorated this year on the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, the Divine Liturgy was served by the long-time past Parish Priest, Protopresbyter-Stavrophor
After receiving the antidoron (blessed bread), everyone moved to the parish hall, where a festive banquet was held. During the meal, many faithful from other parishes joined in, especially members of KSS from other churches. During the banquet, the Honored Kuma for the Sister's Slava, Nada Norval, addressed the Faithful offering gratitude and thanks to God for the opportunity to be a part of the Circle of Serbian Sisters and to be the Honored Kuma for the day. Kuma Nada also remembered the dedication and hard work that her departed mother, +Vera, instilled in her to be a part of the Kolo. KSS Secretary Donna Jovich wonderfully served as the emcee of the program and a very delicious meal was prepared by the Sisters lead by Kolo President, Mira Cucuz, Past President Milka Vukelić, and an extensive team!
Father George, as host, addressed all present, thanking everyone who supports the life of the parish and actively participates in it. He especially praised the work of the CSS, congratulating them on their feast day and patronal celebration and remembered how many of those present had ancestors that were a part of the CSS. These women were the cornerstones of where we are today. Father George concluded the banquet with a prayer.
Indeed, this was a blessed day!
Most Holy Mother of God, save us!
