HIS NAME IS ENGRAVED ON THE WALL OF А PRESTIGIOUS NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

The name of Lazar Paroški is permanently engraved on the wall of the prestigious Iona University in New York. Lazar from Srbobran is among the best students in the USA.

As one of the students of his generation, this young man from Srbobran last year, along with his college diploma, received an award that this university gives to only one student per year. In addition, Lazar is also a voice of Serbia in the United Nations, and his business idea was declared the best in the state of New York. Behind the impressive biography stands a young man who says that in all the opportunities that life has given him, he has tried to represent not only himself or the institution, but also Serbia, because he deeply believes that every success, we have abroad carries a broader responsibility.

With the support of his family, Lazar left Srbobran for distant America. First as a high school exchange student, then as a student at Iona University in New York. At present he is the director of the Organization of Serbian Students Abroad (OSSI) - American branch, and the president of the International Club at Iona University.

He graduated in May last year as one of the best students of his generation. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology with a focus on ecology and environmental protection, along with a degree in political science with a focus on international relations, and was also accepted into the honorary societies in biology and political science in recognition of his high level of academic achievements during his four-year studies.

He is currently a Master of Finance graduate student (MBA - Finance) at the University of Iona, while at the same time developing his own business in the field of sustainable technologies and urban ecology.

Thanks to the many opportunities that have been opened to him, he received the award for the best business idea at the university, and then the best business idea at the level of the state of New York, on whose development he is still actively working.

In addition, he had the honor of participating in the organization of the celebration of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia at the UN, where he led part of the program and addressed officials from all over the world.

Guardian of tradition through “Serbian Days”

Among the many achievements that have marked the development of his academic career so far, our interlocutor is especially proud of the opportunity to represent his country to the world.

As executive vice president of the student government, where he represented about 4,000 students, he tried to change the perception of Serbia. He is especially glad that through this position he had the opportunity to introduce foreign students to Serbia, giving future world leaders the opportunity to understand who Serbs are, what they do and what values they carry, because these are the young people who will make decisions that affect all of us in the near future.

However, this is not the only way in which he managed to represent his country. For three years in a row, Lazar initiated and organized “Serbian Days” at the University of New Rochelle, New York.

“Serbian Days” represent one of the most personal and emotional projects in his life. They arose as his personal initiative to preserve and share faith, tradition and identity, far from Serbia, starting everything with the celebration of his family’s patronal feast day - Slava. His Grace Bishop Irinej of Washington, New York and Eastern America, led the traditional rite of cutting the Festal bread - Slavski kolach in 2025 and shared words of wisdom about the profound significance of the Slava in the Serbian tradition with the guests present. Over the course of three years, “Serbian Days” have been attended by nearly 700 persons - students, professors, members of the Serbian diaspora, as well as numerous Americans and students from other nations.

Without a doubt, Lazar Paroški manages to live the “American dream” in the Serbian way. He is sure of one thing - he sees himself as a bridge between Serbia and the world in the future.

Његово име је угравирано на зиду престижног њујоршког универзитета

Име Лазара Парошког трајно је уклесано на зиду престижног Универзитета Ајона (Iona) у Њујорку. Лазар из Србобрана је међу најбољим студентима у САД.

Као један од студената генерације, овај младић из Србобрана је прошле године, уз диплому факултета, добио и награду коју овај универзитет додељује само једном студенту годишње. Поред тога, Лазар је својеврсни глас Србије у Уједињеним нацијама, а његова пословна идеја проглашена је за најбољу у држави Њујорк. Иза импресивне биографије стоји младић који каже да је у свим приликама које му је живот пружио трудио се да представља не само себе или институцију, већ и Србију, јер дубоко верује да сваки наш успех у иностранству носи ширу одговорност.

Уз подршку породице, Лазар је из Србобрана отишао у далеку Америку. Прво као средњошколац у оквиру студентске размене, а затим као студент Универзитета Ајонa у Њујорку. Данас је директор Организације српских студената у иностранству (ОССИ) – америчка филијала, и председник Интернационалног клуба на Универзитету Ајона.

Дипломирао је у мају прошле године као један од најбољих студената своје генерације. Завршио је основне студије биологије са усмерењем на екологију и заштиту животне средине, уз диплому из политичких наука са усмерењем на међународне односе, а примљен је и у почасна друштва из биологије и политичких наука као признање за висок ниво академских достигнућа током четворогодишњих студија.

Тренутно је студент мастер студија финансија (MBA - Finance) на Универзитету у Ajони, док истовремено развија сопствени посао у области одрживих технологија и урбане екологије.

Захваљујући многим могућностима које су му се заслужено отвориле, добио је награду за најбољу пословну идеју на универзитету, а затим и најбољу пословну идеју на нивоу савезне државе Њујорк, на чијем развоју и даље активно ради.

Имао је част да учествује у организацији прославе Дана државности Републике Србије у УН, где је водио део програма и обраћао се званичницима из целог света.

Чувар традиције кроз „Српске дане“

Међу многим достигнућима која су обележила развој његове досадашње академске каријере, наш саговорник је посебно поносан на прилику да представља своју земљу у свету.

Као извршни потпредседник студентске самоуправе, где сам представљао око 4.000 студената, трудио је да променим перцепцију о Србији. Посебно му је драго што кроз ову позицију имао је прилику да упозна стране студенте са Србијом, дајући будућим светским лидерима прилику да схвате ко су Срби, шта раде и које вредности носе, јер су управо то млади људи који ће у блиској будућности доносити одлуке које се тичу свих нас.

Међутим, ово није једини начин на који је успео да представи своју земљу. Парошки је три године заредом иницирао и организовао „Српске дане“ на Универзитету у Њу Рошелу, савезна држава Њујорк.

„Српски дани“ представљају један од најличнијих и најемотивнијих пројеката у његовом животу. Настали су као његова лична иницијатива да, далеко од Србије, сачува и подели веру, традицију и идентитет, започињући све кроз прославу крсне славе његове породице. Његово Преосвештенство Епископ вашингтонско-њујоршки и источноамерички Г. Иринеј 2025. године је предводио традиционални чин сечења славског колача и поделио мудре речи о дубоком значају славе у српској традицији присутним гостима. Током три године, „Српским данима“ је присуствовало скоро 700 људи - студената, професора, припадника српске дијаспоре, али и бројних Американаца и студената из других народа.

Без икакве сумње, Лазар Парошки успева да живи „амерички сан“ на српски начин. Сигуран је у једно – себе види као мост између Србије и света у будућности.
