On Sunday, March 29^th, 2026, His Grace, our Bishop, and Father Irinej of Washington-New York and Eastern America, was well pleased to celebrate the Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of Lent dedicated to St. Mary of Egypt at St. Nicholas Church in Monroeville, PA. To the joy of all the faithful, His Grace arrived to bring us the foretaste of the most radiant feast of light-Pascha.

At the Little Entrance during the Divine Liturgy, His Grace elevated the Reverend Presbyter Stefan Djoric to the dignity of Economos (protonamesnik). In his very touching remarks at the elevation, His Grace mentioned that the distinction does not refer only to the priest but to the entire congregation gathered around the priest, who worked tirelessly under the instruction of His Grace, not only towards the beautification of the Church, but also towards the renewal of spiritual life at St. Nicholas and in Monroeville in general, given that St. Nicholas parish has become an inextricable part of the wider Monroeville community. The Reverend Presbyter, now Economos, Fr. Stefan Djoric, thanked His Grace for numerous years of guidance and expressed his deepest gratitude to the congregation, without whom the parish’s spiritual and beautification efforts would not have been possible.

The theme of spiritual renewal and beautification continued in His Grace’s sermon on the Gospels read on today’s Sunday, wherein His Grace spoke eloquently about the period of Lent leading up to Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday. His Grace indicated that up until the beginning of Great and Holy Lent, we come to know ourselves through the Gospels of the Preparatory Sundays. Thereafter, this period leads us to Holy and Great Lent, wherein we come to know the Lord, through the revelation of the Gospels, Who took our nature upon Himself, redeemed it, and made it shine so brightly, as The Son of Man, the Son of God, and King of Israel.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the Reverend Deacon Mark Matejevic read the Hierarchical Grammaton proclaiming Fr. Stefan’s elevation to the dignity of Economos, upon which, the congregation with gratitude received the blessing from His Grace, Bishop Irinej, and wholeheartedly thanked Him for His support, acknowledging the fact that without the Bishop’s blessing, nothing good can happen in the parish.

There is nothing better, as the psalmist says, than when brothers dwell in unity (133:1). We also can exclaim that there is nothing better than being united and gathered around our Bishop, from whom many blessings flow, not just to our parish but to our Diocese as a whole.

У недељу, 29. марта 2026. године, Његово Преосвештенство Епископ вашингтонско–њујоршки и источноамерички Господин Иринеј служио је Свету архијерејску Литургију у Недељу Великог поста посвећену Светој Марији Египћанки, у храму Светог Николаја у Монровилу, Пенсилванија. На радост свих сабраних верника, Његово Преосвештенство је дошао да нам донесе предукус најсветлијег празника — Пасхе.

На Малом входу током Свете Литургије, Његово Преосвештенство је унапредио пречасног јереја Стефана Ђорића у достојанство протонамесника. У својој надахнутој беседи приликом произвођења, Владика је истакао да ово одликовање не припада само свештенику, већ читавој заједници сабраној око њега, која је, под архипастирским руководством Његовог Преосвештенства, неуморно радила не само на улепшавању храма, већ и на духовној обнови парохије Светог Николаја и шире заједнице у Монровилу, будући да је ова парохија постала нераскидиви део локалне заједнице. Пречасни, сада протонамесник, отац Стефан Ђорић, захвалио је Његовом Преосвештенству на дугогодишњем руководству и изразио дубоку благодарност верном народу, без чије подршке духовни и обновитељски трудови парохије не би били могући.

Тема духовне обнове настављена је и у архипастирској беседи Његовог Преосвештенства на јеванђелска читања ове недеље, у којој је говорио о периоду Поста који нас води ка Лазаревој суботи и празнику Цвети. Владика је истакао да се у припремним недељама пред Велики Пост, кроз јеванђелска читања, упознајемо са собом, док нас Велики и Часни Пост уводи у познање Господа, Који је узео нашу природу на Себе, искупио је и прославио, јављајући се као Син Човечији, Син Божији и Цар Израиљев.

На крају Свете Литургије, ђакон Марко Матејевић прочитао је архијерејску грамату о унапређењу оца Стефана у чин протонамесника, након чега су верници са благодарношћу примили архипастирски благослов Његовог Преосвештенства и срдачно Му заблагодарили на очинској бризи и подршци, сведочећи да без благослова Епископа ништа добро не може бити у парохији.

„Гле, како је добро и како је красно кад сва браћа живе заједно“ (Пс. 132, 1). Заиста, нема ништа боље него бити сабран у јединству око свога Епископа, од кога се изливају многи благослови, не само на нашу парохију, већ и на читаву Епархију.
