On the feast of the burning of the relics of Saint Sava on Vračar, on May 10, 2026, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije served the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Saint Sava Temple on Vračar. On that solemn occasion, the patronal feast of the of the Saint Sava Sava Temple and the Saint Sava Seminary was celebrated.

After the reading of the Holy Gospel, with the blessing of Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, His Grace Irinej, Bishop of Washington-New York, and Eastern America, addressed those gathered, emphasizing that the Resurrection of Christ grants man true joy and new life.

Recalling the conversation of the Lord Christ with the Samaritan woman, the Bishop emphasized that man can receive only from Christ the living water, that is, the grace which leads into eternal life and quenches the spiritual thirst of every person.

Speaking about the feast of the Burning of the Relics of Saint Sava, His Grace Irinej, Bishop of Washington-New York, and Eastern America, emphasized that the glory and work of the first Serbian Archbishop were not burned, but that wherever a part of the ashes of Saint Sava fell, a new holy shrine and a new church sprang up.

The Bishop also reminded those present of the significance of baptism, emphasizing that the entire Paschal period is a call for man to renew within himself the grace of baptism and to be continually transformed through repentance and liturgical life.

Referring to the Sundays after Pascha, Bishop Irinej said that each of them reveals the path of the renewal of man in Christ and that the Lord, at every Holy Liturgy, gives Himself to the faithful for eternal life and the salvation of the world.

At the end of the Holy Liturgy, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije blessed the slava offerings on the occasion of the Temple’s patronal feast, and then addressed those gathered, congratulating them on the feast with the words: “May the day be blessed and may the feast be happy for all of us.”

The Patriarch said that on the place where there was once a sign of death, today there has been raised a symbol of life and victory — the magnificent Temple of Saint Sava — and that precisely in this the faithful people recognize the power of the Resurrection of Christ and the victory of life over death.

“When we think that everything is without a way out and without help, it is necessary to open the spiritual eye and direct it toward the Lord the Savior. Looking to the saints, we should know that not only is there always a way out, but that together with the Lord, in love, we are victors — in joy, peace, and love,” emphasized Patriarch Porfirije, who on that occasion congratulated the professors and students of the Saint Sava Seminary on the feast, as well as all those gathered, thanking the hierarchs for concelebration and prayerful participation in the Eucharistic assembly.

Serving together with His Holiness were Their Graces: Irinej, Bishop of Washington-New York, and Eastern America; Heruvim, Bishop of Osijek-Polje and Baranja; Georgije, retired Bishop of Canada; Dositej, Bishop of Lipljan; Aleksej, Bishop of Hvosno; Nikon, Bishop of Jenopolje; and Tikhon, Bishop of Moravica, with the prayerful participation of the rector of the Saint Sava Seminary, protodeacon Radomir Vrućinić, the professors, staff, and students of the seminary, as well as numerous faithful people who completely filled the holy shrine on Vračar.

На празник спаљивања моштију Светог Саве на Врачару, 10. маја 2026. године, Његова Светост Патријарх српски г. Порфирије је служио свету архијерејску Литургију у храму Светог Саве на Врачару. Том свечаном приликом прослављена је слава Храма Светог Саве и Богословије Светог Саве.

После читања светог Јеванђеља, са благословом Патријарха српског г. Порфирија, сабранима се обратио Епископ вашингтонско-њујоршки и источноамерички г. Иринеј, истичући да Васкрсење Христово човеку дарује истинску радост и нови живот.

Подсећајући на разговор Господа Христа са женом Самарјанком, Владика је нагласио да човек једино од Христа може добити воду живу, односно благодат која уводи у живот вечни и гаси духовну жеђ свакога човека.

Говорећи о празнику Спаљивања моштију Светог Саве, Епископ вашингтонско-њујоршки и источноамерички г. Иринеј је истакао да није спаљена слава и дело првог Ахрхиепископа српског, већ да је, где год је пао део пепела Светог Саве, никла нова светиња и нови храм.

Владика је подсетио и на значај крштења, нагласивши да је читав пасхални период позив човеку да у себи обнавља благодат крштења и да се кроз покајање и литургијски живот непрестано преображава.

Осврћући се на недеље после Васкрса, Епископ Иринеј је поручио да свака од њих открива пут обнове човека у Христу и да Господ на свакој светој Литургији себе дарује вернима ради живота вечнога и спасења света.

На крају свете Литургије Патријарх српски г. Порфирије је освештао славске дарове поводом храмовне славе, а затим се обратио сабранима честитајући славу речима: „Нека је благословен дан и срећна слава свима нама”.

Патријарх је поручио да је на месту где је некада био знак смрти данас уздигнут символ живота и победе – величанствени Храм Светог Саве и да управо у томе верни народ препознаје силу Васкрсења Христовог и победу живота над смрћу.

„Када помислимо да је све без излаза и без помоћи, потребно је да отворимо духовно око и усмеримо га ка Господу Спаситељу. Угледајући се на светитеље, треба да знамо да не само да увек постоји излаз, него да смо заједно са Господом, у љубави, победници – у радости, миру и љубави”, нагласио је Патријарх Порфирије који је том приликом честитао славу професорима и ученицима Богословије Светог Саве, као и свима сабранима, захваливши архијерејима на саслужењу и молитвеном учешћу у евхаристијском сабрању.

Његовој Светости саслуживали су преосвећена господа епископи вашингтонско-њујоршки и источноамерички Иринеј, осечкопољски и барањски Херувим, умировљени канадски Георгије, липљански Доситеј, хвостански Алексеј, јенопољски Никон и моравички Тихон, уз молитвено учешће ректора Богословије Светог Саве, протођакона Радомира Врућинића, професора, запослених и ученика Богословије, као и многобројног верног народа који је у потпуности испунио светињу на Врачару.
