The Feast of the Transfiguration at New Marcha

On the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, August 19, 2017, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America celebrated the Festal Liturgy in the church of the Archangel Gabriel at New Marcha Monastery, Richfield, OH. The Ven. Protosingel Sava (Medakovic), Spiritual Father of New Marcha Monastery, concelebrated with His Grace Bishop Irinej.

During his sermon Bishop Irinej spoke about St. Gregory Palamas and his teachings about the Transfiguration, the Light of Tabor, and the transfiguration of mankind.  He further stated that is a great joy to serve this feast at a monastery where people strive to be transfigured in the light of Christ.

At the end of the Festal Liturgy His Grace blessed grapes that were brought in celebration of the feast.

Adding to the beauty of the liturgical celebration were the voices and chanting of the choir from St. Sava Cathedral in Cleveland, led by choir directors Milan Damjanovic and Nikola Resanovic.

Following the final blessing from Bishop Irinej a festal agape Lenten meal was served, by the monastery sisterhood, to nourish the faithful after being spiritually nourished by the church services.
