We hold our annual ministry Sunday each year, three weeks before Stewardship Sunday. This year, we had great participation. Article text is below:

The St. Nicholas faithful in Steelton, PA assembled for the Annual Ministry Sunday on November 12. Ministry Sunday was an opportunity to get to know the different ministries and organizations of the parish. Each ministry offered a display of the work that has been accomplished in the past year. This year, 19 of the 23 ministries at St. Nicholas were available to answer questions.

As an encouragement to see all of Christ's work being accomplished in this area, each ministry offered appetizers and desserts at their tables. Mrs. Arlene Barber commented on how wonderful it was to see the dedication to Christ displayed in each of the different, yet worthwhile ministries of the parish. One of the oldest ministries of the parish, the Holy Dormition Kolo Srpska Sestara, has recently undergone a revitalization as it rediscovered its mission to provide for the liturgical needs of the parish.

Another new ministry of the parish is the formulation of the Outreach Committee. This ministry has overseen the visitation of the faithful, and development of the "backpack program" at Steelton-Highspire school district. The backpack program is run by the district, offering backpacks full of food to children in need each weekend. The Outreach Committee has organized the parish response to this need, by helping to fund this worthwhile program.

We look forward to our Lord's guidance for these ministries in the coming year!
