Saint George Slava Celebration in Hermitage

On Sunday, May 4thHis Grace Bishop Irinej made an Archpastoral visit to his flock in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. Our Church celebrated St. George, our patron Saint.

Bishop Irinej was first traditionally greeted with flowers upon arrival. An exceptionally beautiful Liturgy followed. The joy of Christ's Resurrection was among us! Every time the words 'Hristos Voskrese' were spoken, and the joyful Resurrection troparion was sung, we were all reminded of the triumph of Christ's glorious Resurrection.

We were blessed to have with us: the Very Rev. Protopresbyter - Stavrophor Dr. Rodney Torbic, retired priest of St. George in Carmichaels PA; Very Rev. Protosingelos Sava of Holy Trinity in Youngstown, OH; The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Milan Pajic, parish priest of St. Archangel Michael in Akron, OH; The Very Rev. Presbyter Bosko Stojanovic, parish priest of Holy Trinity in Youngstown, OH; The Rev. Presbyter Branislav Golic, parish priest of St. Elijah in Aliquippa, PA;  The Very Rev. Protodeacon Dr. Jovan Anicic, Diocesan deacon and the Director of Diocesan Department of Christian Education; and Rev. Presbyter Vedran Grabic our parish priest. .

In a very inspiring sermon, His Grace spoke of the many reasons we had to celebrate on that day as parishioners of St. George. He stated that much all over the world is dedicated to this Saint- even though we do not know a lot about him. We do know of his  strength and resilience  in the protection of our faith. We know that he continues to protect it along with all of us parishioners of the church dedicated to him. The celebration of our patron saint and guardian was even more splendid this year as it took place during Bright Week, in the joy of our resurrected Lord.

This year's Kumovi were Valerie and Luka Backo, faithful members of our parish, who are generous donors and benefactors not only to our church but to all those in need. Valerie is also our parish choir director. Her, along with her son Luka, lend their beautiful voices to our services.

After Divine Liturgy and the Slava Procession, our Circle of Serbian Sisters prepared Agape for all in attendance. We continued our celebration with a beautiful feast.

May the Lord God through the prayers of St. George preserve His church and multiply His flock for many more years to come.
