With the blessing of His Grace the Right Reverend Irinej, Bishop of the Eastern American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Department of Christian Education is delighted to introduce the Serbian Language Summer School, organized bythe Serbian Cultural Association Matica Srpska in Montenegro, scheduled to take place from August 10thto August 31st2019, in Igalo, Montenegro.
The Serbian Language Summer School is intended for students studying abroad at various schools and universities, mainly those ages 15 and up.
The Serbian Language Summer School lessons will primarily be focused on studying the Serbian language: “ekavica” and “ijekavica” pronunciation, speaking and writing skills, grammatical and lexical system, etc. The course will be organized into three levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, and will also include free courses on the Serbian literature. In addition, the Serbian Cultural Association Matica Srpska will arrange various extracurricular activities for its students, such as, meetings, trips, visiting cultural and historical sights of Montenegro as well as free lectures with renowned experts.
All students will be accommodated in three star villas located in downtown Igalo, Montenegro, all equipped with Air conditioning, bathroom, refrigerator, TV, and Wi-Fi. Meals will be served at the Lighthouse Hotel Restaurant, which is one block away from the villas.
All candidates must fill out the Application Form and submit a Statement of Purpose (up to 1000 characters). Both letters can be written either in Serbian or English. The requested forms are to be sent to the Department of Christian Education at: edu@easterndiocese.org, by June 10, 2019:
1) All candidates applying for the Serbian Summer School are obligated to pay for their own accommodation and food expenses (€570 euros in total), which is due upon arrival. Payments can be made at any bank in the city or through the local post office.
2) All candidates are obligated to cover their own travel and health insurance expenses.
3) The Serbian Cultural Association Matica Srpska in Montenegro will provide daily Serbian grammar lessons, teaching and extracurricular materials.
