Music and Art Camp in Cleveland

A wonderful week of music and art was experienced by over 30 students at St. Sava Cathedral in Parma, Ohio.

Children celebrated the week with the theme of 800 years of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Vidovdan and St. Mardarije of Libertyville, IL. Program coordinator, Mira Damljanovic organized quite a schedule for our children throughout this week of day camp.

Music and voice instructed by Milan Damljanovic, Sister Anastasija of Monastery Marcha –our guardian angels, Milovan Andonov – art and photography, Fr. Nektarije of Lorain – the life of St. Mardarije of Libertyville, Laura DeMarco – journalism and writing, Halle Means – cheer/dance coach, Josh and Sava Vucenovic – art projects, Mayor Georgine Welo- being proud of your heritage in the community, Nick Zamiska – fire safety, Elizabeth Lela Dimitrijevic – music and dance performance, Deacon Ljubisa Mitrovic – lifestyles of the past and present, Dorothy Winovich – church history 800 years,  Josephie Vuich – the armour of God and Protinica Zagorka Sokolovic- Vidovdan and its meaning today.

Beautiful icons were made as one of the projects and Fr. Dragoslav Kosic came to bless them for the children before they took them into their homes. The children had a pleasant field trip to the Watershed of the Cleveland Metroparks. They viewed the gardens and green roof top with the park rangers, learning about the conservation of water in the community.

Following a fun filled week of camp the children performed their new talents at the Vidovdan Commemoration banquet at the Cathedral following Divine Liturgy. A blessed week was celebrated by all who attended!
