PROFESSOR GEORGE DEMACOPOULOS APPOINTED SENIOR FELLOW AT DUMBARTON OAKS

The Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University of New York announced that its Co-Director George Demacopoulos will serve a three-year term as a Senior Fellow in Byzantine Studies at Dumbarton Oaks, a Harvard University research institute in Washington, D.C. and home to a premier center of Byzantine Studies. Senior Fellows are appointed by invitation only and advise the director on all aspects of Byzantine Studies research at Dumbarton Oaks. The position has been held by some of the preeminent scholars of Byzantine Christianity, including Fordham's own late Fr. John Meyendorff, former Dean and Professor at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.

 

Professor Dr. Demacopoulos is the John Meyendorff & Patterson Family Chair of Orthodox Christian Studies, Co-director and Co-Founder of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University in New York City, and Professor of Historical Theology at Fordham University.

 

The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America is represented on the Advisory Board of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center at Fordham University by His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America, and Dr. Lila J. Kalinich, Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Columbia University.
