BISHOP IRINEJ RECEIVES MAN OF GOD CO-PRODUCERS YELENA POPOVIC AND ALEXANDROS POTTER

Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures:

‘The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner;

this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes’?

(Matthew 21:42, Psalm 118:22-23)

On Monday, February 28, 2022, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America received at the Episcopal Residence and Diocesan Center in New Rochelle, New York, acclaimed film producer and writer, Yelena Popovic, and husband, Alexandros Potter, co-producer of Simeon Entertainment. Yelena is best known for her recent film MAN OF GOD, the highly anticipated award-winning box office hit based on the deeply inspiring life of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, who was canonized in the Orthodox Church in 1961, and whose feast day is celebrated November 9th/22nd.

Yelena and Alexandros engaged in a profound discussion with Bishop Irinej concerning the inspirational dimensions of the film, as derived from the life of St. Nektarios. In so many ways, it became apparent that the film is intertwined with Yelena’s own spiritual journey in life. The mystical path to the making of this film has seen the opening of many doors, from the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, to the Holy Convent of Aegina, as well as interaction with many accomplished individuals in Orthodoxy, in the film industry, and wider as a blessing. Indeed, it may be rightfully concluded, stated Bishop Irinej, that the blessing of St. Nekarios was the hand which guided the production of Man of God through to its completion.

As part of our Lenten journey, His Grace Bishop Irinej highly recommends to all this rare opportunity to view the film, Man of God, which will be showing in 800 theaters throughout the United States on Monday, March 21st and Monday, March 28th.

Come, see, and experience the life of an accused man and rejected bishop, and of a glorified saint whose intercessions now offer healing to those suffering from cancer and other diseases.
