CHARLOTTE PARISH CELEBRATES SLAVA

Charlotte, NC - The celebration of the feast of the chapel dedicated to St. Arsenije of Srem in Charlotte, North Carolina began on Thursday with Vespers while on the following day, on the day of the feast, the Divine Liturgy was served.  

His Grace Bishop Mitrophan of Eastern America arrived on Friday with his deacon, Fr. Dragoslav Kosic.  Vespers were served at the Greensboro parish. On Saturday, November 11, Matins with Hours were served after which the welcome of the Bishop Mitrophan followed. His Grace, the bishop, officiated at the Holy Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. Beside the deacon, assisting His Grace were: Protopriest Fr. Stavros Delber from the Greek Orthodox Church “St. Nektarios” in Charlotte, Fr. Mark Mancuso from Columbia, SC (Russian Orthodox Church of the New Martyr Princess St. Elizabeth), Fr. Sasa Turkic from the Serbian Orthodox Church “St. Apostles Peter and Paul” in Atlanta and Fr. Dragan Lj. Zaric, who, during the liturgical celebration, was elevated by the bishop to protonamesnik.  Reader Vladan Gluvacevic with his wife Natasha and family were the hosts, kumovi, from the feasts.

After the cutting of the Slava Kolac and a group picture, a spiritual-cultural program followed.  Around eighty guests participated in a rich lunch, auction and popular musical entertainment.  That day, over $5,000 was collected which went towards the church mortgage.
